Crohns & Colitis Foundation of America
 
Today, more than 1.4 million Americans suffer from Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis. The causes are still unkown as well as the cure. Volunteers would participate in administrative activities, plan and support events, work on the newsletter, or help complete several other tasks.

North Shore Animal League
 
This organization works to save the lives of companion animals, increase shelter adoptions, reduce animal cruelty, and enhance animal welfare. Volunteers can fundraise, conduct classroom programs, assist veterinarians by provding comfort to rescued animals, assist placement of animals, bring puppies to vist senior facilities, or complete office tasks

United Way of Long Island
 
This organization is committed to changing lives on Long Island by investing in Improving Access to Health Care Supporting Children and Youth Reducing Hunger Assisting Neighbors in Need. Volunteers would do a wide range of activities and they will find a place where you can contribute the most.

Colette Coyne Melanoma Awareness Campaign
 
Increase public awareness of the dangers and causes of skin cancer/Melanoma. Volunteers can be spearkers for schools and community organization, organize walks, assist in other events. Informational DVD’s and brochures will be provided. Melanoma is the most common cancer for 15 – 29 y/o. Help save lives.

Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter
 
This all volunteer organization in Port Washington works to improve the quality of life for homeless dogs within the shelter by increasing adoption through training, socialization, and educating the public about the shelter dogs. Volunteers can fundraise, write newsletters or help on trail clean-up days.

Friends of Karen
 
This organization is dedicated to providing emotional, financial and advocacy support to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. Volunteers can put together a basket of Thanksgiving food, fulfill the wish lists of their children, collecct grocery gift cards, collect new coloring books/crayons for their kids in the hospital, collect items for birthdays, collect school supplies, organize a loose change collection, collect gift certificates, organize a tag sale, or several other tasks.
